
5 Day Ashtanga Yoga Intensive in Athens, Greece

Interested in being immersed in the tradition of Ashtanga and exploring one of the most eclectic metropolitan cities in the world? This is the Intensive for you!
Packed with 4 morning Mysore practices where both David and Jelena will give hands on adjustments and guidance, 1 Led Primary Class, and 4 in depth workshops covering everything from vinyasas, assisting foundational postures, twists, forward folds and mare! Whether you are a first timer or a long time practitioner or developing teacher, this program is designed to support your growth!
Participants who attend the full workshop will receive a Certificate of Completion acknowledging their commitment and participation in the full program from the hosts. There will also be drop-in options available for selected sessions, subject to availability.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 20
- 7:00: Mysore practice (3 time slots, at 7:00, 8:15 and 9:30. You can request your preferred start time upon registration – subject to availability).
- 14:00 – 14:45: Guided Pranayama & Meditation
- 15:00 – 17:00: The Secret Teachings of Vinyasa
Vinyasa means moving/breathing system, and the vinyasa system provides the defining structure for the Ashtanga practice. Vinyasa is not only a tool for linking postures, but also a powerful meditation technique that, with each practice, helps us to embody Yoga. David and Jelena will teach practical techniques to deepen both the experience and the performance of your vinyasa practice.
THURSDAY, MAY 21

- 15:00 – 17:00: Assisting the Fundamentals
Learn the traditional coordinates and alignment conditions of Ashtanga’s opening sequence of Fundamental Postures, and also different ways to help others (and ourselves!) get deeper into the poses.
FRIDAY, MAY 22
- 7:00: Mysore practice
- 14:00 – 14:45: Guided Pranayama & Meditation
- 15:00 – 17:00: Twists & Open Hips
This session offers a detailed look at the alignment and work of twists, and their relationship to accessing the deep external rotation of the hips required for progressing further into Ashtanga’s asana sequences.
SATURDAY, MAY 23
- 7:00: Mysore practice
- 14:00 – 14:45: Guided Pranayama & Meditation
- 15:00 – 17:00: Unique Vinyasas
Unique vinyasas are the special entries and exits into certain postures that are specified in traditional teaching, and this workshop breaks down the technique on how to do some of the special lifts and jumps from the first 3 series of Ashtanga.
SUNDAY, MAY 24
- 7:00: Guided Pranayama & Meditation
- 8:00: Led Primary Series
- 12:00 – 14:00: Forward Folds & Backbends
Explore the principles of alignment for the opposing actions of forward and backbending. We’ll look at the ideal movements of the arms, shoulders and hips in a variety of poses from Ashtanga’s Primary, Intermediate, and Advanced Series.
